This piece was originally done for a cover for Bicycle Times magazine. The art director I worked with was looking for a very dapper old-school type randonneur on a old-timey bicycle with vintage accessories and that's exactly what I drew. The character was to be riding a long stretch of gravel road with a looming storm on the horizon, and again, that's what I provided.
What this print says to me is the overall the feeling one gets when riding out in the country on a bicycle with nothin' but a storm in the distance in your thoughts.
Or more simply, just go crush some gravel.
